This is useful for students who may not be familiar with some of the words being tested. An ESL crossword works best if the student has at least some prior knowledge of the target vocabulary.

The 'without wordlist' option does not include the list and is suitable for students who are likely to already know the crime vocabulary.

The 'for pair work' option allows students to work in pairs to complete the crossword. Each student is given half the crossword and must ask their partner to read the clues for answers they do not have. They should then attempt to guess the answers. This method works best if students are already familiar with the crime vocabulary.
